Ain't Dead Yet!

Howdy y'all!

It's been awhile since our last update. Life has been pretty busy and the world is in lockdown, right now, but we're plugging along, staying safe, healthy, and trying to stay creative.

I (Jonathon) have been hella busy with grad school these last few months, so my free time with Napkin Art projects has been limited. But, thanks to Coronavirus, I have more time to work from home on day job duties, as well as take classes online and work on fun stuff.

Here are a couple of new things fresh from the studio. We took a bunch of test printed posters and turned them into sketchbooks. Each cover is unique and features a plethora of screen and letterpress printed graphics. It's a nice way to upcycle some paper taking valuable space in the flat files. Each book is 24 pages, measures 4" x 5.5" and are currently for sale in our Etsy shop. Get 'em while supplies last! It might take awhile before we have more test print posters to make sketchbook covers from. :D

We've also bee obsessed with zines, too, and we have a new art zine available, called "This Strange Effect" (inspired by The Kinks song of the same name.) This zine is a larger sized version (5" x 7") of our "Magnet" zine, essentially, featuring 18 pages of black and white design awesomeness. This limited edition zine is hand cut, assembled, and features a translucent red cover, which we find to be a nice touch. You can find it available here.

A peek inside "This Strange Effect" No.1.

We'll produce an issue No.2 later this Summer once we get through some of these other projects that keep piling up. The zines are a nice way to stay creative, work on something for yourself, and explore another side of creativity. Never did we think we'd get into self published art books!

Well, we wish we had more info to share. Since the rest of the world is in lockdown, much of our commercial design jobs and projects have been placed on hold, for the time being. Like you, we'll be ready to return to 'normal' life once this crisis is all said and done. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and each other. Practice safe physical distancing and make sure your mental and emotional health is looked after, too. We'll get through this craziness!

See you soon.
